And, I remember feeling very uncomfortable at the excessive flashing at a church event - where everyone bar 5, were married with children. I'm female, and really felt uncomfortable with the number of bras and breasts I felt surrounded by. Maybe i was a little more sensitive to this at the time because my then boyfriend was also there, and I was hurt that they'd be so insensitive.

All for feeding your baby as the first priority - but i think this is an occasion where considering not only your babies well being, but that of those around you too, and more important than you own, is commendable.

And I do make it my habit to join lonely feeding friends, because I understand the social sacrifices this can mean.

I have done similarly to you Julie. One moment has stuck with me though. When John and I were leading a bible study of young adults, and I has 6 mth old Silas with me, I would take him out of the room to feed, discretely so no one really knew. One time, a young male friend of ours came out to use the bathroom and walked past me (I was still highly covered even sitting by myself in a darkish room). He later thanked me for my actions. It is rare to receive a positive comment like that, and i will now always seek to feed my baby away from guys - I think it can be more distracting than we realise!

It was good, very timely, for me to read this this morning (from your five most popular posts). I'm off to read psalm 131 now. In fact a few verses had been going through my head before I looked at this post but I couldn't remember where in the psalms it was from! So thank you.

By the way, I think the weaned child factor refers to the fact that a weaned child no longer clamours for milk when held by its mother (whereas an unweaned child gets tetchy when held by mum, very often!)

Vinegar is great on tiles, vinyl etc - just don't use it on real floorboards, if you have them. I did this at our old place and the floors looked streaky forevermore. Apparently you are only supposed to dry-mop these areas. Who knew?

I breastfed my children in private. I feel women should do it in public, but for me I am a very private person anyway so that's how I was most comfortable.

You make a great point about the lack of modesty in clothing. I wish people would put their energies into being outraged by the type of clothes being worn and marketed to teen and preteen girls rather than in hassling women who are doing what's natural and best for their babies.

I think it is a personal choice. People need to stop being so judgey! Feed in public if you want to/need to. Be more discrete if that is you thing. The more people do it, the less it will be made a big thing of though. In a way it is a service to the next generation. I had barely seen a woman breastfeed when I had my children! It shouldn't be taboo, rather a normal part of society. That is the way to improve breastfeeding rates. Sorry. I will stop now. Thanks for Rewinding x

I saw a video of baby-led weaning through my old ABA group (breastfeeding association). I found I have used more of the principles of baby-led weaning with my 2nd and 3rd child - mostly because it is easier than pureeing and spoon-feeding everything - though I still do a bit of that too.

Ohhhh, as soon as I started reading this I knew where you were talking about!!!! It is hard to tell people not from Sydney what people from that area are like. I think at times they are worse than those from the more elite suburbs, because they think they are so much better.

But in saying that there are lovely people there, just hard to find. I sure you will find a lovely group of people there.
